That heavy pressure you're carrying wasn’t your idea, but you’re still living it.Why does self-care feel like another chore, not the rescue it’s supposed to be? Because you’re not just juggling work, motherhood, and ambition—you're also navigating a world that doesn’t pause for systems to catch up.Recent shifts in algorithm-fueled wellness content—and even misinformation—have turned self-care into a high-stakes performance, not a quiet necessity. Meanwhile, studies show that mental health and burnout are skyrocketing, especially among women, nurses, and working moms who shoulder invisible emotional labor “Gendered impact of the COVID-19 pandemic” (en.wikipedia.org).So here’s your Momafey-HT reality check: Feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, “in over my head feeling “. That guilt you feel is a byproduct of unsaid rules and expectations you never signed up for. Your value isn’t tied to somehow doing more, doing it all, getting it all done, or doing it perfectly.Here’s how to begin reclaiming your space, one real step at a time:Think of self-care not as another task, but as freedom you give yourself, not something you must earn. Let go of the “invisible contracts” that say you must always be available, have it all together, and have everything under control. Pause before saying yes, or do another thing—give yourself 12 hours to decide if it is something you have time, and the mental and emotional bandwidth to complete. Create tiny windows of stillness—even if it’s just silence in the car before walking inside. When guilt hits, rename it awareness that I need to slow down, remove somethings off of my plate today. It is not failure.
